Introducing my new place to work
As of March 1 2010, I am working for Thaesis. Thaesis was founded by Theo Huibers in 2006. Thaesis primarily services large companies in markets where business models are transforming. I am excited and delighted to work with Theo and his team of talented consultants.
How I met Theo Huibers
In 2007, I was halfway the two year post graduate program Management Consultant at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. This is when and where I met Theo Huibers. As visiting professor, Theo presented a course on Strategic Information Technology. Besides his scientific activities, Theo proved to be an entrepreneurial spirit as well and the strategy boutique he founded became my new place to work.
My vision on the future of business
I believe the future of business is small. Large diversified companies will not be able to adapt fast enough. Entrepreneurial energy and innovative products and services vibrantly create new networks of local competitors serving clients globally. Technology and design make an invincible combination. Technology enables individuals and companies to become less bounded and more connected. Organizations cross physical boundaries and individuals connect to others through social media. When combined, technology and design offer companies an inexhaustible source for competitive advantage. In times like these, business leaders are in need of creative intelligence and independent strategic advice.
What Thaesis is all about
Thaesis is all about strategy. We develop strategies for large companies, for example in media and publishing. We challenge outdated assumptions that underly current business models. We understand changes in consumer behaviour. And we help companies redefine their raison d'être in today’s business environment. Last year, Thaesis worked on strategies related to e-books, mobile, digital rights and social media. In formulating winning strategies, Thaesis combines financial analysis with business model design. In short: we translate tomorrow’s developments into today’s answers. And we do it precise and fast.
Collaboration with Business Models Inc. will be continued
Over the past two months I have collaborated intensively with Business Models Inc. Founded by Patrick van der Pijl, Business Models Inc. has produced the outstanding book Business Model Generation. I am happy to be able to continue this collaboration as graphic facilitator. I will also finish the production of the Business Models of Our Time report in close partnership with trendwatching.com. Next week, an article on Business Model Innovation will be published on ManagementSite (in Dutch).
